I’ve spent my career in financial education. Over the years, I’ve taught personal finance to under-resourced kids and to some of the wealthiest families in America. I’ve served as a financial education teacher and as a Wall Street investment advisor. Today, I direct a single family office, where I’m a generalist responsible for a variety of activities: investment management, estate planning, tax strategy, charitable analysis, financial coaching, business operations, and more.
Along my journey, I have come to realize just how many people could benefit from a generalist of their own. Someone who can sit alongside them in evaluating their financial position and estate plan. Someone who can ensure their incentives are aligned and their actions match their values. Someone who can share wealth management’s core ideas. My hope is to describe more about this role and my learnings, and to share stories, lessons, resources, and strategies you may find useful.
On a personal level, I’m writing for my parents, who have spent too many sleepless nights worrying about money. I’m writing for my wife and my kids, so they never have to. I’m writing for my friends, who work tirelessly to provide for their families. And I’m writing for the average American who struggles to find unbiased, trustworthy, and reliable wealth advice.
I’d love for this to be a conversation, so please reach out with your questions or thoughts. Above all, I hope this space is helpful to you and your loved ones.
